I’m Revolting!
NO MORE CHINESE FOOD!
The food change has finally hit me and to keep this family friendly lets just say I wasn’t feeling well. So in true Kayte fashion I revolted! No Chinese food and no Chopsticks for a week! Okay so shoot for the stars and you will at least land on the moon, the moon was Wednesday for me.
Oatmeal for breakfast, lunches and dinners consisted of all the fast food I could get my hands on. Yes I know Fast Food is counter productive when you are sick, but when your only other option is Chinese, Pizza Hut and McDonald’s look like PediaSure and Vitamin C!

ahhh American!
So Pizza Hut it was, the Large Supreme cost me an arm, leg and an ear! But hey when you get real cheese, peperoni, and crispy pan crust, the ear is worth it! Pizza Hut is the only place I’ve discovered so far that actually serves real cheese, please don’t ask me what the other places serve I don’t want to even think about it.

Pizza Hut here is not just another Pizza joint it is a full blown restaurant!
The Pizza Hut here is 2 stories, it has a plush interior with waiters! I almost had to laugh at how posh it was, come on it’s Pizza Hut, the place where the Little League team goes when they are sweaty and grass stained! Not here, it looked like there was a business meeting going on at a corner table. Upstairs were affluent couples, well obviously Pizza Hut is doing better abroad.
At least the Pizza lasted four meals! It had a better ringing up at 96¥. Before you blow a gasket that is only $13.00 so it is just American pricing, which if you want American food you have to pay American prices, and I wanted American food.

I know I'm ashamed to admit I ate this, but I was desperate!
Lunch the next day was a little nicer on my pocket. McDonald’s was only 21.50¥ for a Big Mac Meal. The Cashier was nice enough to write out the prices on a napkin. I kept asking for just the sandwich and fries, she wrote on the napkin that the Big Mac was 14¥ and the Fries were 6¥ so it was better just to get the meal. So thanks marketing! I got the sugary soda. After I got home I remembered why I didn’t want it in the first place. I hate Soda!! I haven’t had it in so long my stomach just can’t take it.
So for the record the fries are just as crappy the soda just as carbonated and the meat just as bland. They do add cucumbers and a spicy sauce that was good to the Big Mac. I can honestly say though that was the first and last McDonald’s meal.

Nothing like soft serve!
Just to be thorough with my American food I had to hit up the other chain, DQ! I was a little surprised to find that the Dairy Queen here only serves ice cream. But the Oreo Blizzard is just as refreshing and ohh so scrumptious!
Again American Pricing ringing up at 20¥ for a regular.
The last day of my United Kingdom adventure in 2004 I was DYING for some American food. U.K. food isn’t even that different from ours (compared to the difference between Chinese and American), but after a month of it straight it was different enough to leave me feeling unsatisfied. Sadly, I had actually been DREAMING (literally) of eating Taco Bell, but alas, no Taco Bell in the U.K. So I tracked down a McDonald’s, because at least THEY’RE everywhere. They were having a buy-one-get-one-free special on Big Macs and I’ll be darned if I didn’t eat them both!! They were the most delicious Big Macs I’ve ever had, though it was probably only due to my homesickness for American food. Do they have Ranch dressing in China? It wasn’t at all readily available in the U.K. and I almost died going a month without it.
no no no! you’re not supposed to eat that crap!!!
